This June, Redhead Mountain Bike Park in Chisholm, Minnesota, opened to the public. Built on an inactive mine pit, the park consists of 15 miles of world-class mountain biking trails with another 10 miles currently under construction. Barr worked with the City of Chisholm and the Minnesota Department of Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation (IRRRB) to provide conceptual design, environmental review services, and permitting assistance for the park.
WDIO-TV of Duluth recently interviewed Pete Kero, who helped design the park as both Barr’s project manager and the vice president of Iron Range Off-Road Cyclists. “It’s exhilarating to see people supporting it and showing interest,” Pete said. Also interviewed was Jim Plummer of the IRRRB, who declared the park, “mine reclamation at its finest.”
