Diane Schattenberg | Senior Project Engineer
Diane brings more than 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, specializing in the design of pipelines, gas storage facilities, and stand-alone structures for both onshore and offshore projects. Her work has included completing conceptual and detailed design, preparing specifications and standards, and supporting permitting. Before joining Barr, Diane held a series of roles at various oil and gas companies. Most recently, she was the senior engineering lead for gas storage facilities at Consumers Energy. At Barr, she will support engineering efforts for the energy industry, applying the experience and knowledge gained throughout her career.

Kevin Solie, PE | Senior Environmental Engineer
Kevin has more than 30 years of experience in the environmental field, including extensive waste management, water quality, and wastewater compliance knowledge, as well as involvement in securing permits and approvals for more than $1.5 billion in new infrastructure. Prior to joining Barr, he developed and implemented Coal Combustion Residual (CCR) Rule compliance strategies for landfills and surface impoundments in North Dakota and Wyoming. For both the public and private sectors, Kevin has established strong working relationships with federal, state, tribal, and local officials. He is a registered professional engineer in North Dakota and Wyoming.

Sara Ziegler | Senior Air Quality Scientist
Sara specializes in finding solutions to ease the burden on industrial clients—particularly those in the oil and gas sector—of collecting and organizing environmental data. She has 12 years of experience importing, maintaining, and harnessing air quality data to support companies with projects involving state and federal environmental review, permitting, and compliance. Sara is adept at working with Intelex V6 and ACTS databases, often programming integrations with other data sources and creating compliance dashboards. One of her specific strengths is analyzing and verifying data quality and accuracy, including identifying gaps and developing processes to fill them.

Nathan O’Neil | Senior Air Quality Scientist
Nathan has 15 years of experience, most of it gained at the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR), where he worked at the crossroads of air pollution control and data science. In addition to handling air permitting and modeling, compliance assistance, and emissions inventory calculations, Nathan supervised the agency’s data management unit and oversaw several initiatives that improved the DNR’s approach to data quality and management. At Barr, Nathan helps clients identify, scope, and manage environmental review, permitting, and compliance projects. In addition, he works extensively with environmental management information systems, creating dashboards and reports and developing integrations with other data sources.

Erik Nimlos, PG | Senior Geologist
Erik has 15 years of experience as a geologist and works on the assessment, investigation, and remediation of contaminated sites. His experience includes Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, regulatory and environmental due diligence assistance, wellhead protection plans, Environmental Assessment Worksheets, industrial water-resource evaluations, and remediation oversight. Erik has managed numerous site assessment, site remediation, solid waste, and brownfield sites for commercial and municipal clients in Minnesota, seventeen additional states, and five provinces in Canada. He is a registered professional geologist in Minnesota.
