Two Barr employees are scheduled to present during the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME) Minnesota 2021 Conference, which will be held virtually from April 13-15.
On Wednesday, April 14 at 11:15 a.m., Kurt Schimpke will present “The Rapidly Evolving World of Tailings Management—Where are We Headed?” In this presentation, Kurt will provide a summary of key tailings management developments in recent years and offer insight as to where the industry may be headed.
Ali Ling, in collaboration with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and University of Minnesota Duluth, will present “Biological Removal of Sulfate from Water: Current Status and Outlook for Mine Water Treatment” on Thursday, April 15 at 11:15 a.m. In this presentation, Ali and partners will address limitations and next steps needed to develop biological sulfate removal options for full-scale applications.
