Tom has over 35 years of experience with geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering for industrial solid-waste landfills, surface impoundments, and basins. He assists clients in all project phases from feasibility studies and alternatives analyses to permitting and design, construction quality control, operations assistance, and reclamation and closure. In addition, he performs dam safety inspections. Tom’s area of expertise is the management of mine tailings and coal combustion residuals (CCRs). Specifically, he excels at upstream, centerline, and downstream dam configurations for tailings basins as well as geosynthetic liners and covers for industrial solid-waste landfills and surface impoundments. Other specialties include dewatering and stabilizing materials and managing mine tailings in filtered and paste forms.
